Parental participation is essential to each youth’s treatment at MVJRC. Parent(s) or legal guardians are responsible, pursuant to agreement and court order, for the following: participation in Parent Orientation, Parent Group Meeting(s), and Family Counseling. Parents(s) or legal guardians are also required to visit regularly.
Finally, parent(s) or legal guardians are responsible for the medical and dental expenses incurred by the child during placement.
Parent Orientation is the initial meeting for parents of youth placed at MVJRC. It is scheduled on the 1st Wednesday of each month from 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm. This meeting provides parents an overview of MVJRC treatment and services.
Parent Group is scheduled for the 3rd Wednesday of each month. Parents are required to attend a minimum of four (4) while their child is in placement. The purpose of Parent Group is to discuss MVJRC program principles and effective parenting strategies. Topics include setting limits, communication through active listening, parenting with currency, and parenting styles/child types.
Family Therapy is scheduled monthly with each family by an MVJRC Caseload Counselor. Parents are required to participate for the duration of their child’s placement.
Visitation is limited to parents or legal guardians, who are required to visit at least four (4) times each month. Visitation is by appointment only, and is scheduled two days each week as follows:
Appointments for the ½ hour visitation session can be made by calling 937-562-4151. Youth are not permitted to receive visitors during the first two weeks of placement.
Medical/Dental Expenses for any treatment a youth receives while in placement are the responsibility of the parent(s) or legal guardian.
