MVJRC offers a comprehensive educational program to all youth in placement throughout the year. The educational program provides for coordination and continuity with other aspects of the treatment program.
The Xenia Community Schools is responsible for providing educational services for the youth at MVJRC. Services include instruction, special education, curricula administration, curricula support, collaboration with home school districts, and records and credits. The program also offers a GED track which provides youth who quality the opportunity to work towards their GED during placement.
Educational programming is facilitated by three certified teachers, including a Health/Physical Education teacher and Intervention Specialists. MVJRC staff provide support in the classroom, when needed.
PACE Ware, the computer application of PACE Learning System is the curricula basis for the educational program. Youth work at computer stations for much of their academic work pursuant to an educational plan that targets each student’s individual needs. Youth complete academic screening during their first days of class by completing PACE pre-test in the following subject areas: Math, Language Arts, Reading, Social Studies and Science. In addition, each youth is administered the Wide Range Achievement Test (WRAT) soon after his/her arrival and prior to release.
